The system, which is in use in various European countries, triggers an alert for hospital staff when unwanted babies are left in the windows and is intended as a safe way for troubled mothers to relinquish care of newborns.
Now Australia is contemplating the same solution following calls by a Tasmanian Labor senator to legalise baby dumping by mothers in this country!
Helen Polley, a senator in the Australian Labor Party called for the repeal of laws that make child abandonment a criminal offense.
